Floyd Family Racing
« on: August 12, 2014, 10:24:15 AM »
Made the winners circle in Top Eliminator last weekend at Woodburn. Final run was the slowest of the weekend with a 7.70 @ 180 mph. Been having crank issues and had to change the #3 rod bearing after every pass.

Congradulations. How many RED butts did you kick to get the win?
Relecting obama is like shooting right foot because it did not hurt enough when you shot left foot

FED only class but what Andrew didn't tell you is this is a 300ish cubic inch injected nitro early Desoto hemi high gear only with a clutch!   Oh yes and this is a recreation of Earls FED that he ran at the Winternationals in 1967 with and still owns that car also really cool family!

Or that we beat a Blown Alcohol Donovan Hemi to win. My wife runs the 1967 Cassidy car, also with a Desoto Hemi. Unfortunately we didn't get the connecting rods back in time for the race. Here's a pic of brother vs sister from last year.

Maybe adding another car to next years line-up
« Reply #8 on: October 07, 2014, 07:55:07 AM »
Earl picked this up over the weekend and he's hinting around at maybe getting it back on the strip next year with the possibility of running a blown alky Desoto. "The Stinger" was originally owned by Guy Allen and was a Jr. Fueler running an injected nitro 301 Chevy. Here's a few pics of it then and now. I can imagine running another car. We have the driver, just not enough crew for all the cars, which would pretty much just being me.

Guy Allen,is that the brother of Jeb Allen?  I think Jeb's Jr Fuel dragster was called The Wasp?

I think Jeb was Guy's son. Guy's brother was Ed who drove both the Stinger and the Wasp.

Actually Guy's kids were Ed, Les and Jeb. The older boys ran the Stinger and the Wasp junior fuellers and later Les ran top fuel in the original Praying Mantis before Jeb started driving. Really the Stinger should be restored as it is a car with interesting documented history. I would be willing to trade a new chassis package for it so that the history could be preserved.

That's a great offer Roo.  The history of our sport needs to be saved. I hope you can save the car.
